William Vogt Portraits
A portrait will not only capture a special moment in time, but it will freeze it forever. When you contact William Vogt Photography to produce your portrait, my wife Barbara and I will capture the mood and emotion of the moment.
We'll go to the location of your choice; your home, pool area, the beach or any other place that's special to you and your family. Your portrait will have far more meaning if it takes place at a location special to you!
Let us create a portrait that you will cherish for a lifetime. We enjoy what we do at William Vogt Photography and it shows in our work.
Clothing
For fine classical portraiture, we suggest your clothing be in the medium to dark tones of the following colors: brown, rust, green olive, blue or burgundy. Families should coordinate clothing in one color scheme. Light and bright colors can make you look heavy. Deep solid colors help you look thin. Always keep it simple; never stripes, plaids, checks, bright prints or floral patterns. Our aim is to produce a timeless, beautiful portrait of you.
Try to wear clothing with long sleeves, and don't forget shoes. People often forget that their feet may appear in the portrait! And no white socks please.
Punctuality
It is very important that you are ready to go at your sitting time. We suggest that you be ready 15 minutes earlier so you can relax a few moments before we begin. Adequate time has been allowed for the creation of your portrait, but we do need all of that time. Starting late for your sitting will only result in less photos being taken.
Make Up
The center of greatest interest in a fine portrait are the eyes. Make up should be applied lightly and with care, as if you were going out for the evening. Do not apply extra make up just for the portrait. Facial make up should be blended to the neck line. Bring all your make up with you in case any minor modification is needed.
Hairstyling
For Women: Wear your hair the way you like it best. Don't try a new hairstyle for your portrait. Although it's possible to have a new hairstyle turn out the way you want it the first time, that doesn't happen that often. The key to making your hair look good in your portrait is to wear your normal hairstyle and wear it smooth. Loose ends will pick up the light and photograph prominently.
For Men: If you plan to have a haircut before your sitting, try to schedule it a week in advance so freshly cut ends wont stand out and your hair will have time to grow into the new style. This is especially important in the summer when a haircut may reveal untanned skin.
